We're planning our first trip to WDW - limited budget. Most meals will be quick, but we'd like one at Sci-Fi and the maybe a dessert at California Grill to watch fireworks. We only have one day for each park. What's a realistic amt I can expect to spend?

Without knowing you and your eating habits, it's difficult for me to give a cost estimate. A light eater vegetarian woman could spend significantly less on food than a large omnivorous man. But I do know how you can figure out a realistic food budget yourself ...

Go the website allearsnet.com and click on the search button (near the top right). Type in the name of a restaurant you're interested in plus the word "menu." For example, you'll type Sci-Fi menu. This will take you to a link to the complete menu, with pricing, for each restaurant. The prices could vary slightly, but this will give you a close approximation of how much things cost.

As for the California Grill, I wouldn't count on being able to just have dessert and watch the fireworks there. Guests of the CG must check in to the restaurant at a podium on a different floor, so you can't just wander in. Instead, you'll have to make a dinner reservation which will be held with a credit card. You could always to try ask at the podium if there is any space for a "just dessert" seating, but the chances of that happening during fireworks time is veeeeery small.
