    We are planning our first trip as a family. I have a 5 year old and a 4 year old. We would really like to stay near the magic kingdom park? any suggestions on what resort is the best? Thanks.

    If the most important consideration is proximity to the Magic Kingdom, you can't get any closer than the Contemporary Hotel and Bay Lake Tower. They are within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom. They also provide monorail service to the Magic Kingdom.

    The Grand Floridian and Polynesian are monorail resorts as well. The Grand Floridian is Disney's flagship resort. Stay here to enjoy Victorian elegance. The Polynesian has a South Seas ambiance and includes a volcano themed pool.

    The above resorts also have boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom.

    The Wilderness Lodge which is also a deluxe hotel (but less expensive than the hotels mentioned above) is a short boat or bus ride to the Magic Kingdom. It's a beautiful hotel that the young and young-at-heart fall in love with.

    Fort Wilderness offers cozy cabins that are a bus or boat ride from the Magic Kingdom.

    The best resort for your family will depend on your budget. Each family deems a resort's worth on considerations which they deem important. Some families choose a resort according to its distance from a park. My family usually chooses our resorts based on our budget and then our favorite resort themes. Other guests choose based on which rooms have the most square footage.

    If your most important criteria is closeness to the Magic Kingdom, start by pricing out the resorts mentioned above. Have a look at their room decor and amenities to narrow your choices.
