We are planning a first time trip to WDW October of 2013. Deciding between the Polynesian or Beach Club. Any thoughts? Kids will be 9,9, and 10 at that time. Leaning towards the Poly but also wanting to know if we should upgrade. Thanks!

    Catherine,

My own children are around those ages, and I can say without hesitation that we would choose the Beach Club. We love the laid-back themeing of both resorts, but the Beach Club has the best pool on Disney property (by far). It also has the most convenient location, in my opinion. Just steps away from Epcot and the Boardwalk entertainment area, it's also a 10 minute walk (or a leisurely boat ride) away from Hollywood Studios as well. We love having all of those entertainment options right at our doorstep, especially in the evenings.

Also, if you have park hopper tickets, you can easily enter through the International Gateway of Epcot and walk to the front of the park to catch a monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Sure, you can catch a bus from your front door as well, but monorails are so much more fun than buses! And the ride from Epcot to Magic Kingdom and back is our favorite.

The Polynesian is also a lovely resort. It's beautiful, has a lovely pool, nice beaches, and a great view of Magic Kingdom. And my daughters especially love the leis handed out in the lobby! But even still, our hearts lie with the Beach Club.

It's a tough decision, but I think you will be happy either way. You're in Disney, after all!

    Good luck!
