We are planning our first family WDW trip next year I was told for character dining to book 6mths in advance. Whats the difference between the Cinderella castle and the Princess tea party and which is the better value?

    Hi, Samantha!

Congratulations on planning your first family trip to Walt Disney World! Making reservations 180 days in advance for the ever-popular Character Dining locations is highly recommended.

Cinderella's Royal Table in Cinderella Castle is a special one-of-a-kind experience that any princess fan should not miss! The upstairs Royal Dining Hall is absolutely stunning with stained-glass windows overlooking Fantasyland below. When you arrive, you will meet Cinderella and pose for a complimentary portrait. As you enjoy a delicious meal, several of Cinderella's princess friends will circulate around the dining hall to greet guests, pose for photos and sign autographs.

My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party takes place in the Garden View Tea Room at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The party hostess Miss Rose Petal entertains the children with storytelling and leads them in singing and dancing and even in a little parade through the resort lobby. Tea sandwiches, apple juice "tea" and Princess Cake are served. Princess Aurora (or one of her royal friends) stops by to visit with her guests and each child in attendance receives a "goody bag" of keepsakes.

I have to say without hesitation that, in my opinion, Cinderella's Royal Table is the better value by far. A family of 4 can enjoy a complete meal (with dessert) at Cinderella's Royal Table for the same cost as one child and accompanying adult at the Princess Tea Party. The Garden View Tea Room is lovely, but I personally feel that dining in Cinderella Castle is pure magic!

I hope this helps, Samantha. Please don't hesitate to send more questions as you continue to plan your 2014 trip.
