I am planning our first familiy trip with 7 and 4 yr old sons for June 1st-6 and am getting extremely overwhelmed. Which park will take least time go through as we will have a shortened day on arrival? Ideas for 4 yr old Birthday celebration?

    Hi Erin!

Congratulations on planning your first trip to Walt Disney World! Don't worry, while planning a vacation can be overwhelming, the Walt Disney World Moms Panel is here to answer all of your questions and help you plan a pixie-dusted vacation!

For your day of arrival, I suggest visiting the Magic Kingdom, as they have Extra Magic Hour Evening on June 1, staying open until 10:00p.m. If you are staying on-site at a Walt Disney World resort you can take advantage of Extra Magic Hours.

Magic Kingdom is also the smallest Walt Disney World park, at 107 acres, BUT I in my opinion, DIsney's Hollywood Studios (which is 135 acres) is much easier to tour in a shorter amount of time because there are fewer attraction, which are also closer together.

Personally, I would go to Downtown Disney on the arrival day, take it easy, tour your resort and go to the pool. That way everyone is fresh and ready to hit the parks the next morning.

I also celebrate my kids birthdays every year at Walt Disney World. Make sure to note that it is your 4-year old's birthday on your reservation. When you arrive, ask a cast member for a birthday button. All of the cast members will greet your child with a cheerful "Happy Birthday!" I also suggest making a character meal dining reservation (I love Crystal Palace) and note that it is your child's birthday. Your child will receive a special birthday cupcake, complete with a candy to blow out and make a wish!

But, your child's greatest wish will already be true, experiencing at birthday at Walt Disney World!

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to make your first trip to Walt Disney World absolutely magical!

    Magically,
    Stacy
