We are planning our first ever family vacation, cruise and WDW resort stay! In order to begin planning, I am wondering how debarkation day works. Will we eat breakfast on the ship before departing? About what time can we plan to arrive at WDW? Thank you

Welcome aboard, Staci! My family loves to combine our Disney cruise vacations with a visit to the Walt Disney Resort to add even more magic to our trip! You're in for such fun!

Debarkation day is so easy with Disney Cruise Line. If you haven't already, check out the Disney Cruise Line ground transportation and make a reservation. Though there is an extra cost of $35 per person each way, I promise it's the way to go when leaving the port and heading to your resort at Walt Disney World. But first, let's back up a bit.

That morning, your family will be assigned a breakfast dining time of either 6:45 a.m. (if you've had the main dinner time) or 8:00 a.m. (if you've had the second dinner seating). Of course, you are always welcome to skip that and just grab a quick bite at Cabanas buffet at your own time. Then, around 7:30 a.m., the ship is normally cleared for disembarkation. Guests carrying off their own luggage can begin to disembark, followed soon by any other guests. Most guests leave their luggage out the night before to be collected by Disney so that it simplifies the next morning. Whenever you're ready to leave the ship (it must be by 9:00 a.m.), simply wave goodbye and head into the terminal. There you will collect your luggage and go through customs. There are porters available should you need assistance with your bags.

Then, head to the Disney motorcoaches that will take you to your resort. Hop onboard and soon you'll be headed for more fun at the resorts! The drive from Port Canaveral to Walt Disney World is about 45 minutes to an hour long. You can expect that there could be up to three different resort stops on your motorcoach.

I'd budget about half an hour to disembark and get on the motorcoach, a few minutes to wait for the bus to be full, then an hour and fifteen minutes or so to arrive at your resort, since you won't be sure which resort stop will be first.

I hope those details help as you continue planning, Staci!
