We are planning our first Disney World trip during the holidays with our 10 year old. We’ve heard about a date or time where you go to sleep and wake up and everything is decorated for Christmas! When in particular is the change over so we could try to p

    Hi Kathleen!

Seeing the Walt Disney World resort transformed into a Holiday Wonderland is a very special event! The most breath-taking transformation occurs at the Magic Kingdom as the park literally changes from its Halloween & Fall decor to its full Christmas splendor. Normally, this occurs late in the first week of November as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party comes to an end and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party begins.

Dates for the 2013 parties have not yet been announced, so its hard to pinpoint dates more exactly at this time.

The Disney Parks Blog is a great place to keep an eye on for the most up-to-date information. One of my favorite posts is the Behind the Scenes: Magic Kingdom Park Decorated for Christmas post. I just love the video!

Once the Magic Kingdom is decorated, the resorts and other parks follow shortly after.

Hope you have a great time planning your holiday trip! Please don't hesitate to stop by the Moms Panel and ask more questions if you have any other planning details we can help with!
