Hi. We are planning our first disney trip with boys, 8 and 5, in early December. We want to avoid the Thanksgiving crowds. How long after thanksgiving weekend will the parks remain busy. Also, we hope to swim: Are the pools heated at port orleans?

The big crowds will rapidly dissipate after Thanksgiving. By the Monday after the holiday you can expect the crowd levels to be moderate and then by Tuesday the crowds should be on the low end. The first two weeks of December are a GREAT time to visit WDW. You miss both the Thanksgiving rush and the Christmas rush, the weather is usually fine, and you'll be able to take advantage of all the wonderful holiday happenings in the parks.

All the pools at WDW are heated year round. I have visited WDW in December, January, and February and have always seen the pools full of guests even in these winter months.

Hope you have a great trip!
