Ahoy Jennifer!
Welcome back to planDisney! I know going from planning a Disney Parks vacation to a
Disney Cruise Line vacation can be a lot, so I'm glad you're here for some help. While both islands are located in the Bahamas, each immerses Guests very differently, so while I hope you'll disembark each day to explore these magical tropical destinations, I understand also wanting to spend more time onboard.
While I'm not aware of a list comparing Disney's private destinations, I do have a few tips to share as you consider venturing ashore on
Disney Castaway Cay and
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. First, look at each description on the DCL website, as it includes highlights for each destination, along with photos. While they both offer breathtaking views and gorgeous beaches, each has its own unique feel and activities. As you look through what is offered, I also suggest noting what appeals more to your family when you'll be sailing in 2027. I wouldn't rule out visiting both, because the ship will typically be docked for a full day, which will give you plenty of time to go ashore and also experience the ship as a destination that day. While
Port Adventures are optional, they are also something to consider as you plan. Is one of the excursions a must-do for your crew?
As you create your pre-cruise wishlist, I suggest not finalizing your plans until you can see the list of everything available for those Bahamian days on the
Disney Cruise Navigator app. Once you are in the cruise terminal, you will be able to log in, scroll through each day's offerings, and favorite or heart the activities that fit your family best. I feel like it's hard to decide without going through the specific events and activities offered, like dancing at RUSH! Junkanoo celebration on Lookout Cay or getting soaked in the crystal blue waters from one of two waterslides at Pelican Plunge on Castaway Cay. As I mentioned before, it's two very different island experiences!
Thank you again for cruising over, Jennifer. We love helping you make the most of your future Disney vacation plans and hope to "sea" you again real soon.
