I am planning a family trip for Aug 2011. I have 17 yr old boy, 11 yr old boy and my daughter will be turning 8 during our trip. My problem is i'm not sure what would be fun for my 17yr old son and still have him be apart of our "family" vacatio

Hi, Candy!  As a mom with girls who range in age from five to 19, I know keeping everyone happy while still enjoying family time together was always a concern.  At Walt Disney World, it's such a relief to see that my girls really want to do things together - they enjoy some of the same attractions, they enjoy the parades and fireworks, and they genuinely seem to like each other - now THAT'S some serious Disney Magic!

There are quite a few attractions that the whole family will be able to enjoy together.  My girls love to show their competitive side on things like Buzz Lightyear at the Magic Kingdom or Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  They all get the same level of enjoyment out of the Kilimanjaro Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom.  I've even seen my 19 year old crack a shadow of a smile while watching her sisters get soaked on Kali River Rapids!

I'd probably say you should give your oldest son a bit of a hand in the planning of things - maybe choosing some restaurants or a special activity.  I would also allow him a little bit of time to go exploring on his own if he wanted to - just enough to realize that he was having way more fun with the family!

    Have a wonderful vacation!
