We are planning a down day to enjoy things around the different resorts. Is there a place outside of the parks that you can bring a lunch and just have a picnic? We will have a car so we don’t have to be limited to walking distance. Thank you!

Hello there, Leslie! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and ask another wonderful Walt Disney World Resort question!

I think that taking a day to enjoy all that Walt Disney World Resort has to offer outside of the parks is an excellent idea! I always schedule a “down day” like this during my own family’s trips. This way, we have a chance to unwind and relax after our long days experiencing all the parks have to offer! There are also so many wonderful Disney Resort hotels, I love taking the time to explore each and every one of them!

I’ve actually packed a lunch and enjoyed a picnic on multiple occasions during my family vacations! I would recommend looking into the various Disney Resort hotels and choosing a resort you would like to tour. There are actually many different places inside Disney Resort hotels where Guests can simply sit and enjoy the ambiance of the resort! This means you can definitively bring lunch and eat while experiencing Disney Resort hotels.

Some of my personal favorites to do this with are Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Both of these Disney Resort hotels offer relaxing, quiet places where you can leisurely enjoy a meal. Depending on your preferences, you can certainly find your own favorite Disney Resort hotels to relax and enjoy a meal at!

I hope this information helps you and your family have a nice, relaxing picnic! Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you!
