Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for this great question. I'm happy to hear you're considering a Magic Key Pass - these are such a great way to keep the magic flowing over the course of a year and really provide a lot of great value.
In general, I recommend looking through the
Ticket Upgrades page if you're considering using your ticket to upgrade to an available
Magic Key. The exact way to upgrade will depend on the type of ticket you have. If you have a one-day standard ticket then you would just need to upgrade by midnight on the day of your visit to the Disneyland Resort. If you have a multi-day ticket then you would need to upgrade on or before the last valid day of your ticket.
While there are certain types of tickets that state they are ineligible for an upgrade, standard park tickets are eligible and the process can be done directly through the
Disneyland app on your phone. The blockout dates of the pass you're upgrading to do not factor in if you're already in the park the day of your visit and upgrading via your Disneyland app.
Lastly, I'll note that upgrades to Magic Keys are subject to their availability, which can fluctuate throughout the year. Therefore, it is possible that some keys may not be available in the future - keep an eye on the
Magic Key page and the
Magic Key Instagram page to see which keys are currently available at any given time.
