I will be planning a Disney Wolrd Vacation as a surprise to my wife and 2yo son for Jan of 2018. First, If I book now and stay, play, and dine comes out can I upgrade my pacakage and bringing a 2-year-old almost 3--is this a wise decision or should I wait?

    Hi Joseph!

What a wonderful surprise for your wife and son! I love that you are already thinking about a trip next year! Disney in January is fun as the lines are shorter and there is no humidity. It can be cold so make sure to check the weather before heading to the Sunshine State.

If you want a specific resort, you may want to book now to guarantee that room. However, January is slow except for the weekend of the first and Marathon weekend which is the first weekend after January 1. You can wait on the room.

If you are flying to Orlando, you want to watch the airfares. Sign up for your favorite airline's social media sites and look for deals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when airlines offer specials.

Disney generally allows guests to change a package if rooms are still available. I have been able to take advantage of a new package being offered after I booked.

Personally, I would do my research now and save my money. Then I would book as soon as airfares are cheap or a deal is extended for my time frame. Usually deals come out from Disney about six months in advance so look in the summer.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
