Planning our 1st Disney vacation Jan 21-28, 2012. (kids 6 & 17). I am wondering how to plan which parks on which day and how many days to spend at each park?

    Hi Joseph!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! With eight days at Walt Disney World, you will have several options for planning a fun vacation for your entire family!

I have a couple of suggestions for planning a magical vacation:

    • If you are staying on-site, I'd recommend taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours. Extra magic hours are offered to guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. You can get into the park up to one hour prior to opening to the general public or up to three hours after regular closing time. This is a great way to get more time in the park.
    • Visit the touring plans dot com website to review the crowd calculator and recommendations on parks to visit on certain dates. This is part of the "unofficial" guide to Walt Disney World. The team that puts this together does extensive research on ride wait times, crowd levels and more. There is a small fee to view the calendar, but I think it is well worth it.
    • In regards to how many days to spend in the parks, I typically use the first day to visit Downtown Disney, then visit parks for the remainder of the days, taking one day in the middle of the vacation to relax at the resort and enjoy the pool! Since you are staying eight days, I would suggest visiting the parks for six days.
I hope you have a magical vacation!

    Magically,
    Stacy
