Hi Wendy! On April 22nd, Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom theme park will celebrate Earth Day! Throughout the past years, Disney has hosted "Party with the Planet", which involves festivities, and information stations geared toward encouraging conservation and protecting the environment. These events will be hosted from April 13th through April 22nd. Throughout AK, there will be different sections in which they will present ways to help keep the planet green, as in the Maharajah Jungle Trek, where shopping tips will be provided, or at Rafiki's Planet Watch, where kids can get their face painted and learn about conservation, either hands on or by talking to Disney Cast Member who are involved in preserving the planet.
On a yearly basis, Disney celebrates their Earth Day events in conjunction with their latest DisneyNature release, this year being "Chimpanzee". You can learn about Chimpanzee habitats, visit the Chimpanzee Research Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch, and engage in other activities planned throughout that week.
I'm including a link to
Call of The Wild from the Disney Insider, which gives a better synopsis of the activities planned that week.
Hope this helps you spend a marvelous Earth Day at Animal Kingdom!
