Planning a Disney Cruise in May 2014 (so excited!!). How long does it take to get to Port Canaveral via DCL? If we arrive @ Orlando Airport the day of the cruise, how late can we leave the airport via DCL transportation to board on time? Thanks!!

Welcome aboard, Erin! Wow, this time next year you could be setting sail with Disney Cruise Line! That is certainly something to look forward to, isn't it?

It's a great idea to use Disney Cruise Line's ground transportation between the airport and Port Canaveral for your cruise, as they take care of all of the details. Though it does have an extra fee of about $35 per person each way, I can tell you from experience that it is well worth it, as Disney makes your transition from land to sea and back again very seamless and stress-free.

Disney Cruise Line recommends that flights arrive prior to 1:45 p.m. on the day of embarkation, but my family likes to fly in the night before and stay at either a Walt Disney World resort (you can use Disney Cruise Line ground transportation from there too!), or at the airport hotel, just to ensure that any sort of flight delay wouldn't mean we'd miss the ship.

Return flights should be 11:30 a.m. or later on disembarkation day, Disney recommends, to ensure enough time to disembark the ship and return to the airport, through security and make it to the flight.

It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get between the airport and Port Canaveral, but the time goes quickly with preview videos about the cruise playing as well as Disney cartoons. You'll be so excited on your way to the port to board the ship, the motorcoach ride will become the very first part of your vacation!

Stop back here with any other questions you have, Erin, as you continue to plan this exciting vacation with Disney Cruise Line! I'm happy to help!
