I am planning a Disney Cruise for my granddaughter's fourth birthday sailing out of Fort Lauderdale on December 12th. Please provide birthday celebration options. What advantages are there to booking with a Disney travel agent?

Hi Lourdes! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with your question. Celebrating your granddaughter’s fourth birthday on a Disney Cruise, especially a Very Merrytime sailing, is a special way to make memories together.

There are some really sweet ways you can make her birthday feel extra special. First, make sure to note her birthday on your reservation. You can usually do this during booking or by updating the info in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. This lets the crew know there’s a celebration happening onboard. Once you’re on the ship, stop by Guest Services and pick up a complimentary “Happy Birthday” button for her to wear. Kids love to hear Cast Members and other guests wishing them a happy birthday all day long!

Another fun option is to surprise her with birthday decorations in your stateroom. You can order them in advance through the “Onboard Gifts” section of the Disney Cruise Line website. They offer festive banners, themed pillowcases, and even cupcakes or whole birthday cakes that can be delivered to your room or dining table. Just make sure you order at least seven days before you sail, and if you need to cancel, be sure to do that no later than three days out.

If your granddaughter loves dressing up like a princess, you might also consider booking an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It’s such a magical experience! Since spots can book up quickly, it’s best to reserve that as soon as your booking window opens, which is typically 75 days before sailing if this is your first cruise with Disney.

Now let’s talk about booking with a Disney travel agent; there are definitely some perks to working with one. Many agents who specialize in Disney cruises offer their services at no extra cost to you. They’re paid by Disney, so you don’t pay a fee, and some even offer onboard credits as a thank-you for booking through them. A good agent can save you time by handling the details, like booking excursions or keeping an eye out for promotions. However, if you go that route, you’ll need to go through your agent anytime you want to make changes or payments on your reservation. If you’d rather manage everything on your own, booking directly with Disney Cruise Line is super easy, too. It really just depends on what you’re more comfortable with!

I hope this helps you as you get ready to celebrate your granddaughter’s big day. Wishing you both a magical sailing on the Disney Dream!

    Warmly,
    Eean
