I am planning on a cruise in July & am taking my son (5 years old) & my mother. What can I expect taking only one child on a cruise? Is it worth it & will there be enough for him to do. I don't usually leave him with anyone other than my paren

    Welcome Aboard, Yvette!

Your son is the perfect age to visit the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club, which are located on Deck 5 of the Disney Cruise Line ships. These areas are reserved for children ages 3-12, and they offer a wide variety of activities. You can register your son for this online while doing your online check-in. Once you arrive at the Disney Cruise Line terminal at Port Canaveral, you should go to the Kids Club check-in to get his special wristband.

On your embarkation day, there will be open house times listed on the daily navigator. This is a perfect time for your family to go and visit the Oceaneer areas, and hopefully makes you and your son feel comfortable with the areas. Each day you can consult your Navigator to see the activities being offered and decide what sounds fun! A cast member will call your Wave phone anytime your son is ready to leave the clubs.

Even is you decide not to check your son into the clubs, I am sure you will find there are plenty of activities to keep your entire family occupied. The Daily Navigator will have everything listed, from characters to visit to family trivia games to the nighttime shows. The pool areas are lovely, and the Aquaduck is a blast!

I hope this helps with your planning and that you have a fantastic cruise! Please let us know if you have further planning questions.

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
