    We are planning a character dinner at Chef Mickey in August for my son's birthday. There is a time available but it is later than we were hoping for. Should one become available again at an earlier time, can we switch to the earlier time? If so, how?

    Hey there, hi there, ho there, Timothy! Chef Mickey's is such a great place to celebrate a birthday. I am so glad you were able to get an Advanced Dining Reservation there for your son. This is an incredibly popular restaurant, so it does tend to fill quickly. Guests do often have a change of plans, so do not lose hope of finding an earlier reservation time. Just keep checking availability, especially as the date nears, and you can swap your reservation time faster than you can say M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.

    If you do find a more desirable time to celebrate your son's birthday, you have two options for changing it. One option is to give Disney Dining a call at (407) WDW-DINE, or (407) 939-3463, give them your reservation confirmation number and ask them to change the time to the earlier time slot. This may take some time, and I would hate for you to lose that spot, so I much prefer this next faster method. When doing an online search for availability, I just simply do a new reservation and then cancel the previous reservation. When you attempt to book a new reservation that conflicts with another reservation, the system will often ask if you would like to cancel the current reservation. If it does not do this, you will need to cancel it on your own online or by calling Disney Dining. You can cancel it easily online if you have linked it to your My Disney Experience account. You will notice a cancel button to the right of your dining listing; just click that button and follow the prompts. Chef Mickey's does have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so you will want to make sure you complete any changes to your reservation before this time frame.
