Hi Rosa May,
Welcome aboard planDisney! I remember planning my first
Disney Cruise Line vacation and having some of the same questions, so let's get started!
Having sailed south from Vancouver, I have had glorious days at sea. The sea conditions vary based on weather, but Disney Cruise Line works diligently to minimize exposure to rough seas. The ships are all equipped with state-of-the-art stabilizers to reduce motion, too.
When selecting your stateroom, the lower decks in the midship area are usually the smoothest. There are some great
Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms on those decks. Some Guests prefer
staterooms with verandahs so they can get some fresh air while in their rooms, so for those you will need to go up to at least Deck 5, but I think the ride will be smooth there, too.
Even though I am sensitive to the ship's motion, I love to sail! From my experience, I have a few tips to offer. I pack some motion sickness tablets and use them preemptively. If needed, you can stop by
Guest Services or the
Health Center for complimentary motion sickness tablets. You can also request ginger ale or green apples from
Room Service or in the dining rooms, which often help ease your stomach. I've never had an issue with motion sickness on a Disney Cruise and I hope these tips will help you.
Thanks for sailing by, Rosa May! Let us know if you have other questions as you plan your vacation; we are happy to help.
Wishing you many magical memories,
Shannon
