Hello Moms! Planning the annual mother daughter trip in Sept.- try to do special extras on every trip. Have done other backstage tours & considering wild africa trek this yr. but mom uses an ecv. Is that tour accessible? Thanks for yrs of help!!

    Hi WendyLeigh,

I like the way you think! I too like to add something special to each of my Disney trips and particularly enjoy the backstage tours. On my most recent trip to WDW in January 2011, I was lucky enough to be able to take the Wild Africa Trek for the first time.

Unfortunately, this is one of the few Disney experiences that is not ECV accessible. The Trek involves substantial walking over rough, unpaved terrain. Additionally, Trekkers have to cross elevated rope bridge, step over uneven planks, and climb several sets of stairs.

I have heard from several sources that Disney is working on a modified version of the Trek for guests with mobility issues. There is a possibility that this will be available prior to September. My suggestion is for you to periodically call the WDW tour office at 1-407-WDW-TOUR and ask them when the modified Wild Africa Trek might be ready.

    Good luck!
