plannig a trip for 2/1-2/9 of 2015. It will be a 2nd trip for my son( he turns 10 Sept 2014, but this trip is his gift...will they celebrate for him even tho his bday passed?) It will be our almost 5 yr old girls first visit. Want it to be amazing! Help!

    Hi Mary Lynn,

Have you ever seen or read Alice in Wonderland? In this story, they celebrate unbirthdays on a regular basis. An unbirthday happens any of the 364 days of the year that is not your birthday. The Walt Disney World Resorts does this daily. They totally get that you may not be there for a "real" birthday so unbirthdays are very common.

When you book your vacation, just tell them you are celebrating your son's birthday. You can list this on your Advance Dining Reservations too. Make sure you grab a pin at your resort or at one of the four parks that says you are celebrating a birthday.

As for making it amazing, get your family involved. Spend time looking at the Walt Disney World website. Have each child pick three must-dos a day and then commit to making at least those things happen. Everything else is sprinkles on a sundae. Look at dining options and plan those as well for at least dinner to give you a chance to relax and reconnect. Also, pick at least one character meal and one meal outside the parks in the resorts to get a break.

Also, remember, what makes my vacation, may not make yours. My two daughters were never the get-dressed-up-like-a-princess girls. They were, and still are, ride the biggest rollercoaster as often as possible girls. So when you are looking for ideas, look for the recommendations from people who vacation like you. Also, skip the Park Hopper option and stay each day in just one park. You can then just concentrate on the little extra pixie dust found at that park.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
