We just planned our trip to Disney World January 4-10, 2009 last week. We found out yesterday that the Disney World marathon is January 8-11, 2009. Are the parks just as crowded during that time as they are during the holiday season or summer?

    Tracey,

Don't fret, you planned well.  Those dates should be fairly light in the parks.  The only somewhat busy (and still not as busy as summer or a major holiday) time during January is around the Martin Luther King Day weekend (January 17-18).  Disney planned the timing of the marathon, so that it would help fill the resort a little during their typically slow season. The impact of the marathon runners isn't very noticeable, though, in the park crowds.

If you want more details about how busy those dates might be, I recommend you look at the "crowd calendar" predictions on www.touringplans.com (subscription or copy of Unofficial Guide required to view more than one month in advance).

Hope that lets you relax a bit about your planned dates.
