Hi, I am planing our first DWD trip with my DD7 and DS6. Some hotels/resorts offer "kids eat free", but do all this offer require one paying adult? For one adult and 2 kids, what would be the best (convenient and economic) dining plan?

    Qing,

You really need to look at the package details of what is being offered. In the case of the Free Disney Dining Plan promotions, typically they offer free dining to all room guests. In fact, all guests have to be on the same dining plan anyway, so it makes no difference if you have 2 kids and one adult, or any other mix of parents and kids.

HOWEVER, with many "Kids Eat Free" promotions at non-Disney resorts you will find that they do require a 1 parent per participating child rule to the program.

If you can ask us again with references to the particular promotion you are talking about, we might have a parent on the panel who has tried the promotion in the past and can provide more insight.

As to your question about the dining plans, I find the standard plan is the best. With the plans that are 'above' them (i.e. the Deluxe or Platinum), I find that children, even 6 and 7 year olds, don't eat enough food to make them very cost effective. As for the Quick Service plan, it is economical, but my family still wants to have a few table service meals.

If I were you, I would consider either doing the Quick Service plan and pay for a few table service meals out-of-pocket, or go with the standard plan. The decision between these two paths is based on how many table service meals you want during your trip. If it is just 2 or 3, go with the Quick Service plan. If it is 4 or more, go with the standard plan.

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
