Welcome aboard, Lorrie! I bet you are excited to begin planning your first Disney Cruise. Add the magic of the Christmas decorations and activities to your cruise and you're in for one very special sailing!
My family will be sailing during the Christmas season for the very first time this year and we are thrilled to be able to enjoy the Christmas decorations, storytelling, gingerbread house-making, snow flurries on Castaway Cay, the "Deck the Deck" party and so much more. Disney Cruise Line always provides a special experience, but there is something even more special about sailing during the holidays!
While the 2014 Christmas decorations and activities have not been planned quite yet, the 2013 Christmastime information was just released. This year, Christmas decorations and events will take place on sailings beginning November 9th, 2013. Since there is no guarantee of when these might take place next year, if you'd like to ensure you sail with decorations, you might opt for the later November 17th, 2014 cruise that you mentioned. The November 10th, 2014 sailing will probably feature Christmas magic as well, but until that information is released next year we just can't be sure.

Christmas on Disney Cruise Line in this article from the Disney Parks Blog. It gives even more details about what guests have in store for them this holiday season!
Have fun as you continue to plan, Lorrie, and please feel free to stop back with any other questions you might have! I'm happy to help!
