Hi planDisney Panel! Years ago we did the baby’s first haircut at Harmony Barbershop in Magic Kingdom. I saw that it’s still closed. I would love to hear some alternate ideas for a baby’s first haircut. What are some other suggestions? Thanks!!

    Hi there, Lara!

I was just reminiscing with my husband and daughter about my grandson's first haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop. It's one of my favorite Magic Kingdom memories, especially after having my own childrens' first haircuts there. Even though it was only three years ago, I get very nostalgic to see his certificate and those tiny little mouse ears!

I'm so sad that Harmony Barber Shop is not yet back open, but let's talk about some ideas that may end up becoming just as special as those sentimental memories you have of that first haircut.

You can get an embroidered set of mouse ears at Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland. There are a few places outside of Walt Disney World where you can go for a quick haircut, then you might opt for a Capture Your Moment photoshoot. Or how about celebrating a haircut-to-be with a character meal or a special celebration cake? And what could be better than cake? A Kitchen Sink Sundae for the whole family to share at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney's Beach Club Resort. Now that's making memories!

Perhaps pick up an ornament at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. You can have that personalized, and you can add the date of the baby's first haircut even if it's not at Harmony.

Keep checking back with us, Lara. We don't know when fan favorites like Harmony Barber Shop will return, but we are right there with you in hoping we can soon make those magical memories again!
