Hello Sandra!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! One of the best pieces of advice I give families with young children is to return to the resort during the day to take a nap. Little ones, and their parents, will have a more enjoyable evening in the parks after an afternoon rest.
If you wanted to give your son and his family full access to your room at
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Club Level Lounge, if you still had room in your room occupancy, you could add them to the reservation. Even if they weren’t physically staying in the room, if they were listed on the room reservation they would have access to all the same benefits you would, including a
MagicBand that would open your door and access to the Club Lounge. They could also use the pool in the afternoon. If you are booking as a cash Guest, there would be an additional per-night charge for more than 2 adults in the room, so you would have to weigh the benefits vs. drawbacks. Also, if you were adding anything on like Disney Dining Plan, you would then have to purchase that for all Guests on the reservation.
It is important to know, that MagicBands are linked to you, not to a specific visit or reservation. You can have more than one active MagicBand at one time. As a frequent visitor, I currently have multiple active MagicBands, and I bring more than one with me on my visit. Any MagicBand linked to me will open my resort door. While Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort receive new MagicBands with their stay, unless deactivated, your MagicBands from prior trips with a working battery will still open your door. You can also
purchase MagicBands in advance from Shop Disney, buy new ones from gift shops throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, and even create personalized ones with your name from select locations. If you purchase a new MagicBand, you can then use
My Disney Experience to link that band to you, and the new band would have all the same functions as the one provided with your resort stay, such as opening your room door for a quick nap.
I hope this helps with your planning, Sandra, and that your grandbaby has sweet dreams!
