I've been visiting Walt Disney World since I was a little girl, and at this point, it almost feels like a second home to me. But as many trips as I've planned for myself, my family, and my friends, it's always such a thrill to help plan a first-time visit! I am so excited to help you plan a
practically perfect stay in The Most Magical Place on Earth - so let's wave our magic wands and jump right in!
First of all, choosing a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel in the Magic Kingdom area is always a great idea when you're traveling with
young kids. Of course, all of the theme parks offer tons to do for little Mouseketeers, but in my experience, little ones are particularly drawn to the wonder and whimsy of this iconic park! I've always loved staying near Magic Kingdom, but my husband and I
especially loved it when our kids were small. It's just so easy to pop back and forth for nap times or swim breaks, or even just a little AC.
To be as close to Magic Kingdom as possible, I recommend
Disney's Contemporary Resort,
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. All three of these resorts are just minutes away from Magic Kingdom on the
monorail.
The Grand Floridian and the Polynesian also offer
water transportation, plus you can actually walk to the park from all three of these resorts! The Contemporary offers the shortest walk (about 10-15 minutes), while the walk from the Grand Floridian will take you slightly longer. The Polynesian is the farthest walk, but it's definitely still doable. My family and I did this walk on our last stay at the Polynesian, and it was a great way to beat the crowds after the
Happily Ever After fireworks!
Now, I see that you're traveling with another family, so here's another tip: consider booking a deluxe villa (a 2- or 3-bedroom suite), or book standard rooms and then call the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations line to request adjoining rooms. While requests can never be guaranteed, Disney Cast Members are always happy to help when they can!
