how do I plan a trip for me and my daughter but she lives in different location

Hello, Thomas, and thanks for stopping by planDisney! I’m Shantel and I am honored to help you kickstart your planning. Planning a trip is one of my favorite parts of the Disney Vacation. The good thing is I am very familiar with your distance question. Most of my trips are booked with family and friends who live in different states.

I recommend first running through some of the basic planning questions. How long will you both be visiting? Which Disney Resort will you stay at? And don't forget to start creating your list of must-dos! After that, you’ll be good to book your vacation. All you need to do is include your daughter on the reservation that you booked. If she has a My Disney Experience account, once you’ve shared the reservation number with her, she will be able to link it to her account and help with the detailed planning. Details like scheduling your dining reservation!

Honestly, Thomas, the hardest part is syncing your arrival time. I recommend trying to schedule your incoming flights, or drives, to arrive as close to one another. If the schedule doesn’t allow for that, don’t worry! Since you both will be listed on the resort reservation, you both can check-in individually. By that, I mean, that whoever arrives first can access the room solo. You won’t need your daughter to check in or she won’t need you. My sister and I usually try to correspond our flights close together, but when it doesn’t work our unspoken rule is whoever arrives first, must have warm food in the room when the other arrives. For some strange reason, we’re always starving after a day of travel. Plus, there’s nothing more enjoyable than that first Disney meal in your resort knowing that very soon you’ll be heading to the theme parks for some magic.

Thomas, I hope this helps start your planning process. If you need any more help feel free to ask away! If you need even more help booking, I also suggest giving the Walt Disney World Resort a call. A Cast Member will be more than happy to help book your vacation package over the phone too. Before you know it, you'll be booked and counting down the days until you can enjoy this trip together.

I can’t wait for you both to enjoy the magic!

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
