We are holidaying at the beginning of July, and have Disney tickets. Generally is the 4th July extremely busy in all the parks, and would it be advisable to avoid the parks that day?

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, Aileen!

I’m so happy to hear from you and even happier to hear that you will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort this summer. How exciting! I know it’s only February but summer is so close, I can feel it. The spring is my favorite time to visit the parks, but we base our trips off of my husband’s work schedule. This means we usually go when everyone else goes, during big breaks. Times like the holidays, summer break, spring break, and fall break. So it’s safe to say that I am fairly familiar with busy parks and large crowds. We once even visited on Christmas Day!

The 4th of July will most likely be busy but not to the point where you need to avoid the parks entirely. I’ve found that the evening of the 4th of July is when the parks will be busier because fellow park Guests will be there to see the fireworks. However, you still have a few options to help maximize your day. If you are looking to avoid the larger crowds I would pick a theme park other than Magic Kingdom for that day. Only because most Guests will be at the Magic Kingdom so that they can see the fireworks twinkle behind Cinderella's Castle. If I were you, I would visit Animal Kingdom that day. That's what we did on Christmas Day and it was a perfect choice. I also recommend arriving early so that you can truly enjoy the entire day. Arriving when the parks open is one of the best ways to maximize your time especially since most Guests will arrive later in the day so that they can enjoy the evening fireworks.

If you rather avoid the theme parks entirely, Hakuna Matata, there are so many other things to enjoy! You could have a pool day at your resort, schedule a dining reservation, or maybe even visit Disney Springs. Whatever you choose to do, I know you’ll have a great day. Any day at Disney is better than anywhere else!

Aileen, I hope this helps answer your question. If you need anything else please feel free to ask me. I’ll be more than happy to continue to help you plan for this exciting visit.

    See ya real soon,
