Hi Taylor!
Welcome to planDisney, and let me be the first to congratulate you on your upcoming engagement! I can't think of a more magical setting to pop that very important question than
Magic Kingdom Park. I've seen quite a few proposals happen in front of Cinderella Castle over the years, and each one warms my heart and usually generates a big round of applause from nearby guests.
I think you might be referring to a
Capture Your Moment session, which is a private 20-minute photo session with a
Disney PhotoPass photographer for up to 8 guests. These sessions can be booked 60 days in advance and often book up quickly. Lucky for you, I just took a quick look at the availability on October 30, and morning and afternoon slots are still available at the time of my writing. I'd reserve quickly if this is a must for your proposal plans!
Now, just a few things to consider before you book this Enchanting Extra. You'll need to check in at the Liberty Square Ticket Office next to The Hall of Presidents at least 10 minutes before your session begins. If you want the proposal to be a total surprise, start thinking of some distractions so your partner doesn't suspect your plans when you arrive. You might want to pass a note to the check-in Cast Member or your photographer so they're aware while keeping your fiancé-to-be in the dark. You could also schedule your Capture Your Moment
after the proposal, which will allow your photographer to include some fun props in your session without ruining any surprises.
When you arrive to check in for your session, you'll select Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasyland, or Liberty Square as your backdrop. Your photographer will offer posing guidance and location recommendations, so all you need to do is say "cheese." Keep in mind that the purchase of Capture Your Moment doesn't include the actual photos, but if you have
Memory Maker added to your vacation plans, you'll be able to download your images along with all your other photos. If not, consider adding Memory Maker One Day, which will include downloads of all images captured on a single day of your visit.
If you decide not to go with a private session, you can likely still capture some photos of the magic moment with Disney PhotoPass photographers around the park. They are pretty great at thinking fast and moving quickly when they see someone about to get down on one knee. You can also offer a quick whisper about your plans while you drop your bags before posing with your partner. Obviously, this will not be a 20-minute session, but you'll probably end up with a few frame-worthy photos of your big moment.
Once your partner says yes, take some time to celebrate and don't forget to pick up a complimentary celebration button at Guest Relations. I'd also recommend toasting to your future with a delicious cocktail like the Lavender Fog from
Enchanted Rose, located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It's always my top beverage choice, but they offer plenty of wine and champagne options as well.
Taylor, I hope this helps you pull off the perfect proposal! Please come back and see us again with more questions, especially if you're considering
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings in the future. We have several Disney brides and grooms in our panelist family who would love to share their experience with you.
Magic and memories,
Amy
