We want to plan a night to have a character meal outside of the parks and then go to Downtown Disneyland. What do you recommend and do you have to pay to park at the Downtown area?

    Hello Bridget,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I hope you are having a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious kind-of-day!

Planning a vacation at The Happiest Place on Earth is so exciting! You’re going to love a Character Dining Experience. You have a couple restaurant choices that are located outside of the parks and they are fantastic. You can either dine at Storytellers Cafe located at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, this Character Dining Experience has a rustic feel to it. At the Chip ’n Dale Critter Breakfast, you might see Disney Characters like Chip n’ Dale, Koda, and other hard-to-find friends like Meeko. Or you can dine at Goofy’s Kitchen which is located in the Disneyland Hotel. You will be greeted the host himself, Goofy. Then while you dine more friends of Goofy will visit your table to take pictures and sign autograph books. We enjoy both restaurants but always seem to book at Storytellers Cafe because we really like the buffet meal and the company of the Disney Characters there.

You can park at Downtown Disney District for free up to 3 hours- or you can park at the specific hotel you choose to dine at for up to 3 hours for free; whichever you think would be more convenient for your family.

I hope this helps and that you have a magical time during your visit. If you have any more questions, please visit me here and let me know how I can help you plan your Disney vacation.

Wishing you a Jolly Holiday at the Disneyland Resort!
