Ashley,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
You are correct, that a regular park ticket to the Magic Kingdom will get you in during the posted operating hours of the park, but not for the after hours
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. That is a separate ticket event.
First off, if the party appeals to you, it is a fun evening. The festivities really make for a great, family-friendly Halloween experience. But that is not to say that the park is only having Halloween fun during those party hours. When you visit the park, even during normal operating hours, you will see that it is decked out for a ghoulishly good time!
RECOMMENDATIONWhen my family visits, sometimes we get party tickets, sometimes we do not. A lot of it depends on our budget, and on our schedule. If you choose to go, great. Have fun. And know that the special event ticket actually gets you into the Magic Kingdom at 4 pm, even though the party officially starts later. That could mean enjoying a day at your resort pool before going to the party, and saving that standard park ticket for another day.
But if you choose not to go, don't worry. You will still have fun wherever you are. When we visit, but don't go to the party, we opt to visit the Magic Kingdom on a day when there is no party held. That lets us go to the park into the evening. Or we make a night of it at the Disney BoardWalk, or
Disney Springs.
