Hello there Margaret, thanks for coming back to planDisney!
It sounds like you have such a magical celebration for your Father coming up, and a special
dining experience is the perfect way to celebrate. I just tried securing a
dining reservation for a party of 16 for a future date, and unfortunately, I did not have any luck securing a reservation. I see that you're not visiting until early next year, so you definitely can try for a group of that size, but you may have to make 2 smaller reservations. You can begin to make dining reservations up to 60 days in advance.
If you're unable to secure a dining reservation for your entire group, I definitely recommend having another family member or friend help you secure a dining reservation at or around the same time for 2 groups of 8. I'm hoping you're able to secure 2 dining reservations for the same time, and when you arrive for your dining reservation to the restaurant, you can inquire with the Cast Member to see if your group is able to be seated together or near each other. I also recommend not checking in for your dining reservation through the
Disneyland app and head straight to the host stand to speak with a Cast Member. This will give you a better chance of being seated near each other, but it is not guaranteed.
Another option would be to explore some of the wonderful
quick service dining locations throughout both theme parks, and while some family members find seating for the entire group, other family members could be utilizing
mobile food and beverage ordering for your meal. For a larger group, it is easier to find seating if you dine at off-peak times for lunch or dinner, and you all could still enjoy a delicious meal together! A few of our favorite dining locations include Pym Test Kitchen in Disney California Adventure Park, and Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Disneyland Park.
I hope these suggestions are helpful for your trip planning, Margaret! If we can help with any other questions to help make your Father's celebration extra special, don't hesitate to
come back and ask.
Have a magical day!
Melissa
