I plan on bringing my mother for Oct 5-9 for her birthday and we are trying to figure out of the dining plan is a good idea. We do want to go to one or two fancy places but we werent sure because it is during the food and wine festival. Any suggestions?

    Nicole,

The only way to be 100% sure is to price out what you would eat and compare that to the cost of the dining plan. But that is a lot of work, research, and spreadsheet time.

The short rule of it is that as your party moves from light eaters (smaller children who don't eat a lot, people who are light diners) to more moderate and heavier eaters (teens and adults), the plan makes more and more sense. With my two little girls (4 and 6) we simply never eat enough to make up for the cost. But when I go with just my wife and we do a lot more table service dining it starts to work out better and better.

You know your family best. If you are sure that you are going to do a lot of dining, it might be a good plan. Otherwise you can pass on it and just pay directly for every meal.

A special note on the festival. Since a lot of the special stands from that event falls outside of the standard table service or counter service meals credits, it can mean that you may not want the plan. Certainly if you are going to go there a lot, you probably will find that the plan just doesn't match what you need.

If you write me back directly via my bio page with more information about your traveling party, I can provide a better educated recommendation!

Have a magical (and delicious) vacation!
