Plan on going to Blizzard Beach with our 15yr and 12yr old week of March 16th 2008. Some places say to make sure you wear shoes on the hot concrete and walking up the stairs, but what do you do with your shoes when you get to a slide like Summit Plummit?

Blizzard Beach is a great place for teens!

I've been to Blizzard Beach several times and I agree that pavement can get a bit hot. If you choose to wear water shoes to the park to save your feet, you should choose a style that will stay on your feet on the slides. By this I mean, NOT flip-flops or Crocs that would fall off on a slide. That way you could actually wear the shoes on the slide too. Once you got to the top of the ladder for the slides (like Summit Plummit), there would be nothing to do with your shoes, other than holding them. I know that Lands End sells several styles of water shoes that fully enclose the foot and stay securely on. Also there are some waterproof Teva sandals that stay securely on with Velcro.

I myself usually just tough out the hot pavement. Most of the time you can find enough shady or wet spots to walk in that you'll end up being fine without shoes, at least that's been my experience.
