Are there places on the ship to buy Pirate attire or is that something that we have to bring with us? Are there places that allow children to eat with the characters? What types of souvenirs will we be able to purchase? This's our families first cruise :-)

Welcome back, Samantha! I believe your family is setting sail on the Disney Dream, so I'll fill you in on specifics for that ship.

Pirate Night is one of my family's favorite nights onboard, no matter on which of the four Disney ships we are currently cruising. Guests get into the spirit by donning their scallywag best for all the swashbuckling fun. You'll enjoy a pirate-themed menu at dinner, and then the fun continues with pirate games and activities for the kids, Mickey's Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party and the Buccaneer Blast fireworks at sea, like only Disney can do! Many guests bring their own pirate costumes and gear from home, but there are certainly plenty of opportunities to purchase new pirate attire and accessories at Mickey's Mainsail gift shop onboard.

Mickey's Mainsail and Sea Treasures are the two main gift shops onboard where you can find everything from sundries you may have forgotten to pack, to plush dolls, costumes, autograph books, trading pins, ship-specific collectibles, trunk shows of jewelry and watches, and almost anything else you can imagine! Mickey's Mainsail is like a mini Disney Store, and tends to be the kids' favorite store. I enjoy browsing the high end merchandise across the hall at Sea Treasures and checking out the handbags, dresses, shirts, jewelry, and of course picking up some Disney Cruise Line memorabilia. I get a Disney Cruise Line Christmas ornament as a memory of each cruise too!

The Disney Dream does not offer character meals, but I promise you that there are plenty of opportunities to meet your favorite Disney friends onboard. Be sure to check your Personal Navigator each day. This daily schedule of activities and events will also list which Disney friends will be out for meet and greet times and where to find them. Plus, you'll see so many of them in the Broadway-style shows each night in the Walt Disney Theatre too!

Have fun planning and stop back with any other questions, Samantha!
