Are there any places in Disney World where I can buy a Disney gift card? I’m trying to avoid currency exchange. My boyfriend and I were thinking of doing half our budget on a gift card and half in cash.

    Hi there Melinda,

Welcome to planDisney from a fellow Canuck! How fantastic that you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, you are going to have such a wonderful time. I'm glad to see you've heard about the advantages of using Disney Gift Cards, let's take a closer look.

I'm constantly looking for small ways to save money when planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. The easiest and most effective way I have found is to use Disney Gift Cards to pay for purchases such as theme park tickets, merchandise, dining or entertainment. Canadian residents can purchase physical Disney Gift Cards in Canadian dollars from various Canadian retailers (most grocery chains and large retailers carry them).  When these Canadian Disney Gift Cards are used for online transactions through the U.S. official Disney website (think park tickets) or in person, the funds are converted to American dollars. The previous night's exchange rate will be applied, and any remaining balance on the Gift Card will show in U.S. dollars on your receipt. Many Canadians choose this method of purchasing Gift Cards as it eliminates additional conversion fees typically associated with credit cards. It also serves as a convenient means of budgeting for a trip!

When you have purchased multiple Disney Gift Cards, you can easily merge them on www.disneygiftcard.com. This website allows you to keep tabs on your card balances and assign custom nicknames for easier tracking. It's important to note that you cannot combine cards of different currencies which means that if you have both Canadian and American Disney Gift Cards, they must be kept separate.

Melinda, I hope this helps you with your vacation planning. If you have any additional questions, please let me know, I'm happy to help!

    See ya real soon,
    Candace
