Yo ho, Patrick! We hear ye come seekin' adventure! Well, ye come to the proper place here at planDisney, matey!
Pirates of the Caribbean and the
Blue Bayou Restaurant were among the last projects Walt Disney personally oversaw, and both opened on March 18, 1967, just three short months after his death. These
Disneyland Park classics are fan favorites, and many guests like you are anxious for their return! I spoke with Guest Services today. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide a reopening date for either; however, there is speculation that Blue Bayou will reopen sometime this month and the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction by the end of June. Hopefully, they have
all hands on deck and it will be open by the time of your trip- otherwise, someone may have to
walk the plank (my lousy attempt at pirate humor)! Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for the latest official news!
I hope you get a chance to "Dine Down on the Bayou" with the glimmering fireflies and perpetual twilight, Patrick! If you can get a reservation, I highly recommend going during lunch and ordering a Monte Cristo Sandwich, which is the stuff legends are made of. And while they don't serve any grog, I always enjoy sipping on a Mint Julep. Have a great time!
