Welcome to planDisney, Cythia.
Hot diggity dog, you'll be on your way to The Most Magical Place on Earth in just a few short weeks! I bet you're eagerly counting down the days in anticipation, and who can blame you? After all, you have so much to look forward to on your trip from
The World's Most Magical Celebration to the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and everything in between!
Pin trading at Walt Disney World Resort, while different than it was a few years ago, is no less magical than it always has been. There are
new, exciting ways to pin trade, including mystery trading boxes and Mickey-themed boards. Mickey-themed boards can be found at many merchandise locations throughout the parks and
Disney Resorts Collection hotels. Similar to past pin trading, you simply point to the pin you want to trade for and the Cast Member will switch the pins out for you.
The mystery trading boxes can also be found at many merchandise locations, but they have an extra element of fun since you don’t know what pin you'll be trading for. You tell the Cast Member which numbered drawer you want to trade for to see the mystery pin that's hidden within. If you like the pin, you can complete your trade. If not, you can choose a second mystery drawer. Just know you will be limited to two drawer picks on the mystery trading box even if you decide not to complete the trade with either mystery pin.
Be sure to pick up a paper Guide Map when you arrive at any of the four theme parks, because the pin trading locations will be notated with a “Disney Pins” icon on the list of interest points for a given area of the park. As a seasoned Disney Pin Trader, I suggest you purchase the larger packs of five mystery pins for trade bait. When you crunch the numbers, the cost per pin tends to be a little less than other options, which means you can purchase more pins with the savings.
Cythia, I hope your magical trip is everything you've dreamed of and more. If you have further questions, please stop back by planDisney. We’re happy to help!
Happy planning,
Alyssa
