What should I do if I have a physical disability that effects my ability to stand for long periods of time and requires me to frequently need to rest throughout the day but does not require a wheel chair?

Hello, friend! Thanks for stopping by planDisney. I’d be delighted to help you prepare for a comfortable and enjoyable visit to the Disneyland Resort.

Taking care of your comfort throughout the day can make a huge difference, especially when spending long hours exploring both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Even if you do not typically use a wheelchair in daily life, many Guests find that renting an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or wheelchair helps conserve energy and makes the parks far more enjoyable at a relaxed pace.

At the Disneyland Resort, ECVs and wheelchairs are available from the mobility rental location located just outside the main entrances to the parks. Because the rental area is before the entrance gates, you’ll be able to pick up your ECV before entering the parks and return it there at the end of the evening. Availability is limited and rentals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so I highly recommend arriving before park opening for the best selection. (You could think of it as your first stop of the adventure for the day!)

If you are planning a multi-day stay, you may also want to consider a length-of-stay rental through ScooterBug. Guests staying at the Disneyland Resort hotels can arrange to have an ECV delivered directly to their hotel before arrival. This option gives you the flexibility to use the ECV not only inside the parks, but also while relaxing around your hotel or exploring Downtown Disney District. Many Guests enjoy having the same ECV available throughout their entire vacation, along with the convenience of not needing to secure a new rental each morning.

As you plan your park days, I also encourage you to build in intentional rest breaks. The Disneyland Resort has several peaceful spots that are perfect for slowing down and recharging for a bit. In Frontierland, the shaded seating area near the Stage Door Café offers relaxing views of the Rivers of America. And in Disney California Adventure, the benches tucked near Grizzly River Run offer a peaceful forest atmosphere that feels wonderfully removed from the hustle and bustle of the day.

I hope this helps you feel more confident as you prepare for your visit. If you’d like help planning a slower-paced day, finding convenient dining locations, or choosing attractions with shorter waits or indoor queues, please visit us again at planDisney. We’re always happy to help you make your Disneyland adventure as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Wishing you a relaxing visit filled with wonderful memories, cozy rest stops, and plenty of Disneyland magic!
