Can you use the photopass without purchasing the CD?

Yes, absolutely. I've used the PhotoPass photographers on many WDW vacations and have only purchased the CD a few times. Your decision about whether you need the CD comes down to how many actual PhotoPass photos you'll want and what you want to do with your images.

Prices can vary, but individual PhotoPass prints are in the neighborhood of $12 each. The PhotoPass CD is approximately $130. So, you can do the math and see that if you're going to want printouts of more than 10 pictures, then the CD makes sense. The other factor to consider is that when you buy prints, you are only getting the print, not the digital file. If you're a person who likes to crop or manipulate your photos, or if you're planning on doing something like making holiday cards with your PhotoPass pictures, then buying the CD also makes sense.

While there are sometimes discounts available for early CD purchase, you don't have to make this decision until you're back from your trip. Just save the PhotoPass cards the photographers will give you. When you get home, type the card numbers into your computer at disneyphotopass.com. If you love tons of the pictures, buy the CD. If there's only one or two you like, just buy prints of those. Or, you can decide not to purchase anything, the choice is up to you.
