Greetings, Jodi.
On behalf of myself and everyone here at planDisney, let me express my heartfelt condolences on the recent loss of your father. I hope you’ve tucked the memories you made with him deep within your heart and are able to look back on them one day with only wistful joy instead of bittersweet sadness. In my periods of deep grief, I know reminiscing over photos and videos of my loved one is one of the only things that seems to help, so I understand your concern with the lost photos of your dad. While
Disney PhotoPass pictures do indeed
expire 45 days from the date they were taken, I suggest you call (407) 560-4300 and explain the situation to a helpful Cast Members on the Disney PhotoPass Guest Support Team. There’s a good possibility they can recover the photos you need. Though it's not a guarantee, it's certainly worth a try.
Jodi, one day in the future when your heart is ready to venture back “home” to the magic, perhaps you can think of a unique way to honor your father’s memory at this place he loved so much. We had a death in our family last May, and I was absolutely devastated. The next time we visited
Walt Disney World Resort, we made the trip about performing random acts of kindness in their honor. We paid for others’ snacks and meals, we handed out cards with a message and a small Disney Gift Card, and we gave away a Mickey Balloon. Spreading magic to others in their name seemed to help us find bits of joy in what was (and still is) a difficult journey. Maybe doing something along the same lines would make you feel as if he was still with you at your happy place in a way.
I’m sending a Baymax-sized hug your way, Jodi. Take things one day at a time. When you are ready to return to the magic, all of us here at
planDisney will be waiting for you.
You’ll be in my heart,
Alyssa
