Hi, Breanna! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! My family has several Disney traditions, and one of my favorites is selecting an ornament for our Christmas tree that represents each of our trips. We started our collection with a Mickey and Minnie ornament for our honeymoon trip in 1999, and this yEAR I'm excited to hang up my tiny replica of the Fantasy that I bought on our Disney Cruise this yEAR!
There are a couple of places to shop for holiday décor around Walt Disney World Resort, including
Disney's Days of Christmas in Disney Springs. However, none in my humble opinion quite compares to the
Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. This charming little shop, tucked away in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom Park, celebrates the holiday season 365 days of the yEAR! For a small fee, a Cast Member artists will handwrite your name, a meaningful phrase, or date on an ornament at either of these merchandise locations. Next time you're in town, bring along your ornament and ask if they can do a quick touch up. In the meantime, check out the
Disney Parks Blog for a tutorial on how to make your own Disney themed ornaments at home!
Speaking of crafting, I often use a Polycrylic water-based protective finish, such as Minwax, for my projects. I think it would add a subtle sheen and help preserve your ornament, but make sure to do a test patch first.
Mickey and I wish you a Merry Christmas, Breanna! See ya' real soon!
