Hi Trevor!
Welcome to planDisney! In my regular life, I am actually a nurse, not a lawyer, so I want to preface my answer to you with the statement that since I am not a lawyer, you should consult one for the specifics of your situation!
Part of why consulting a lawyer is important, is that there are differences from state to state, especially in how things are legally transferred to another person. Generally speaking, if you are the only person on your
Disney Vacation Club Membership, should you pass away, your Membership, as a legal deed, would be considered an asset that would be passed to your heirs. But it doesn’t mean that the second the will is executed that your heir can call up and make a reservation. There is paperwork to be filed and things need to go through a probate court to have the deed transferred from your name to their name. Your estate would also continue to be responsible for any fees or annual dues.
I hope this is at least a start to your question, Trevor. You might find this
page of FAQ's helpful, and you can also call Member Services to discuss the specific details of your contract, and they may be able to offer state-specific information.
Wishing you
Membership Magic!- Kate
