Are people with ADR's seated in the order they arrive or the order of the ADR. Example: if we arrive at 12:40 for a 1:00 ADR, would we be seated before or after someone arriving at 12:50 for a 12:50 ADR. This can make a difference when juggling show times.

    Hi Carol!

This is such a tough question to answer! In all honesty, I've experienced both scenario's you've mentioned. The reason it could be so variable is that the restaurant needs to take into account not only arrival and ADR times, but also party size and composition (high chairs? wheelchairs? etc) of waiting/pending guests so that each guest is seated as close to their reservation time as possible. And, of course, this will vary with each restaurant as their physical layouts are extremely different.

Most often, I've been seated early when arriving early, but this isn't something I would expect to happen. Whenever we arrive early (whether we're 30 minutes or 10 minutes early), I do expect to wait until at least our Advance Dining Reservation time. At very busy restaurants and busy times of year, I may even add in an extra 10 to 15 minutes past that time, just for planning purposes- I hate to be late to the next event!!

    I hope this helps!
