    What is the penalty

Hello there, Aurora, and welcome to planDisney!

Thanks for submitting your question to us. I'm going to guess that you're a Magic Key Holder and would like to know about Disney's No-Show policy and subsequent penalty for not making your reservations.

Magic Key Holders who do not show up for their park reservations 3 times within a 90 day window will be put into a penalty state. This means that they will be unable to make new park reservations or modify existing reservations for 30 days. This 30 day penalty will begin the day after the third no-show. Existing reservations will be unaffected. If you feel that you aren't able to make it to the Parks on a day that you have a reservation, you'll have until 11:59 p.m. PT to cancel to avoid a no-show. If you're curious, you can actually see your no-show history at the Reservations page under your Magic Key.

I hope that's the information you were looking for, Aurora. Just in case, I've collected some other penalties here for your amusement:

    • Charlie's triple deke penalty shot at the end of The Mighty Ducks. An oldie but a great feel-good movie. Hopefully that didn't spoil it for you! It's well worth a watch.
    • Some Guests are unaware that there's a penalty for selling Special Event Tickets, like Oogie Boogie Bash. Trust me, you don't want to go there.
    • Did you know that there are jails inside Disneyland Park? That's right! I'm not sure what they did to suffer the penalty of jail time, but just be sure to follow the Park Rules and Regulations regarding Guest Courtesy. You can even see these jails if you want. One of them is located in New Orleans Square on Pirates of the Caribbean, where they'll forever be trying to get the key from that "mangy mutt." Another can be found in Mickey's Toontown. That one seems to be pretty easy to escape, though...
    • The penalty for driving so wildly on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and for upstaging the Queen of Hearts on Alice in Wonderland. Two of my favorite attractions and both highly recommended!

Aurora, I hope you got the information you needed and enjoyed this tongue in cheek deep dive into penalties. Please write to us anytime you have more questions and we'd be happy to help. We'll see ya real soon!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
