Hi, Michelle! Thanks for bringing your questions to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm so impressed you've set your sights on doing all three races during
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend! Registration for the 2020 races opens in a few days, and I'm already tingling with excitement! Isn't running so much more enjoyable when you're treated like royalty?
The good news is that now you can use either a credit card, Disney Rewards card, or a Disney Gift Card to
pay for your runDisney race registrations. Currently, you can only use one form of payment, so since you have multiple Gift Cards, you will need to set up an account on the
Disney Gift Card website to combine all of them onto one card. Enter in all of your Disney Gift Cards into their system (up to 5 at a time). Then, go up to the top menu and click on "Manage Cards" tab, and select the "Transfer Balance" option. Make sure, however, that the combined value of your Gift Cards has a sufficient balance to cover the cost of the race; otherwise, your registration will not be processed.
Sadly I know people who have run half marathons without proper training, and their recovery is slow and painful. You don't want anything to jeopardize being able to walk around the Parks on your remaining days after the race, so you are smart to think about training this early! I am a big advocate of the run-walk-run method designed by the runDisney guru, Jeff Galloway. I've read his books and met him in person at the Disney Princess Half Marathon Expo. I'd encourage you to look into his
19-Week Training Program for beginning runners, and remember that slow and steady wins the race! Another thing that really helps me is to have a running buddy. I'm lucky to have one who is also a big Walt Disney World fan, and we love talking about our upcoming trips during our longer training runs!
Lace up those sneakers, Michelle, and start thinking about what color sparkle skirt you're going to wear! You're going to shine in 2021!
