Does it pay to get a 'meal plan' if we are only eating kosher meals, do not want to make reservations days in advance (since we have no idea what we will feel like eating or where), and may not eat all our kosher meals at WDW?

    Hi Heni!

The dining plan works essentially the same for Kosher meals as for non-Kosher meals.  The entitlements on the dining plan apply exactly as they would for all meals, with some exceptions.  When it comes to the buffet meals, guests requesting kosher meals will only receive one (1) meal as there is no "family style" available (no all you can eat).  Guests will still be charged the buffet pricing.  If you've been able to reserve your Disney vacation with the free dining plan, then I would say yes, its definitely worth the perks.  However, because your dining experience would be quite different, my recommendation would be to book the traditional table service dining and skip on the buffet dining.  In this way, you won't be charged for a family style experience you don't get.  If you are planning to eat some of your meals off property, or will be cooking at your resort, then it may not benefit your family to book the dining plan.  There is no guarantee that you will enjoy the pre packaged kosher meals, as they do come from an outside vender.

All kosher meals must be requested at least 24 hours in advance.  They need to request the meals offsite, and I would highly recommend making reservations  well before your arrival date.  There are several quick service locations throughout the theme parks that provide kosher meals.  You can find a comprehensive list of these at the independent website Allears.net, under the heading of Keeping Kosher at WDW.

Hope this helps you plan your magical vacation!
