can you pay for everything with disney gift cards or is there a cap off amount you can use?

    Hey howdy hey, Kris.

I'm glad Bullseye rode like the wind and brought you here to planDisney! As Woody would say, you're in for a rootin'-tootin' good time on your vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth this summer. I bet you can't wait to be immersed in the EARidescent excitement of The World's Most Magical Celebration!

Disney Gift Cards are my favorite form of payment to use on my Walt Disney World Resort vacations too, so I'm glad you've asked this question. Did you know you can buy packs of preloaded Disney Gift Cards at a slightly discounted rate at various nationwide warehouse membership stores? My husband and I typically have to budget what we spend carefully for our trips, so we buy these packs ahead of time. It is a great way to save a little extra but also allows us to stay within our budget since we only spend what we bring with us on the Disney Gift Cards we purchased (we do not use any other form of payment on our trips).

You are only able to use a single credit card or alternate accepted form of payment per transaction online at this time, but there is not necessarily a cap on the amount of Disney Gift Cards you can use on your vacation. There is not a definitive list I can share, but know that Disney Gift Cards are accepted at most locations on Walt Disney World Resort property. If you decide to pay for everything from your Disney Resort hotel reservation to a Mickey Pretzel on Main Street, U.S.A. or a Mobile Food & Beverage Order in your My Disney Experience Mobile App, you should be good to go. Of course, it may be wise to also bring one credit card with you just in case you somehow happen upon a location that does not accept Disney Gift Cards as a form of payment.

Kris, did you know you can set up an account on the Disney Gift Card website using the same login information as your My Disney Experience/Disney account? Once you log in, you'll be able to store the details of up to six Disney Gift Cards for safekeeping. You can consolidate smaller denomination gift cards by transferring their amounts onto your stored gift cards (a maximum balance of $1,000 per gift card is permitted). This is great in case you happen to lose one of your stored gift cards, because you can log in and transfer the balance onto a different stored gift card within the site. It's super safe and oh-so convenient!

Pro tip: Stop by one of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival merchandise locations at EPCOT early in your trip to purchase a special Festival gift card (a minimum purchase of $15 is required). Not only can it be saved as a fun memento of your magical adventure, but they have an attached wrist band, which makes them super easy to use but less likely to lose. I always purchase one, make it one of the saved gift cards in my account, and wear it on my wrist for the length of the trip (that way I don’t have to pull out my wallet every time I need to pay for something).

Kris, I hope this information helps. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to boot-scoot on by planDisney again. We will reach for the sky and go to infinity and beyond to lasso the answers you need.
